Department of Pathology
Pathology is the study of diseases. General Pathology deals with causes, disease processes & effects of common diseases. Dental students ought to know the basis of all diseases in order to understand the clinical presentation, signs & symptoms, diagnosis & outcome of all diseases. It deals with various abnormalities, genetic, developmental, infective, immunological, metabolic & neoplastic disorders. A good understanding of General Pathology is absolutely necessary for a sound clinical practice
The Department of Pathology & has a well ventilated & well lit spacious lab which can accommodate 40 students. It also has a separate preparation & storage area. The laboratory caters to the development of practical skills for undergraduate dental students. It is well equipped with 50 monocular microscopes, 01 binocular microscopes, 20 formalin preserved pathology specimens, colorful & informative charts on the various subject- related topics. It also houses an Autoclave, an Incubator, a Hot Air Oven & a Refrigerator for aseptic preparation & storage of bacteriological media for practical as well as diagnostic purposes.
The lab provides all that is necessary for hands-on training in practical pathology & microbiology like different staining techniques to observe microorganisms, demonstration of cultural characters of common pathogens, analysis of blood & urine, histopathological identification of common diseases & hold on using the common tools & instruments.
