Pharmacology
Pharmacology is the branch of science concerned with the study of drug action. More specifically, it is the study of the interaction that occurs between a living organism and chemicals that affect normal or abnormal biochemical function. It is situated between the basic and clinical sciences and is important for dental students.
The course covers the important principles of drug action. Although the emphasis is given to drugs used by the dentist, the study is extended to all major groups of drugs in order to give the student a more general appreciation of the role of drugs in dental practice. Clinical correlations between pharmacology and clinical practice are made periodically throughout the course.
Pharmacology is making a strong effort to prepare our young graduates to make a more significant contribution to patient care.
